Application and payment method
You can easily apply to the insurance online via our website. We offer several packages that differ depending on your situation as a student. Based on your destination country, the university you will attend and your personal situation, the website will show the insurance package that is available to you.
Once the insurance is approved, the coverage will be active from the start date that you chose during your application. The start date could be the same as the application date, but it is also possible to apply for a period in the future. Important to know it that the start date of an application needs to be within 6 months from the application date.
A few days after the insurance is approved, you will receive a first invoice via e-mail to pay the insurance premium. It is possible to pay the premium at once, yearly, or monthly. Invoices need to be paid within 30 days from the moment you receive the invoice. Important to note here, is that the insurance will not be cancelled automatically once you don’t pay the invoice on time. After your insurance is approved, it will start per the start date you chose, no matter if you paid already or not. This is because it can happen that you apply soon before leaving abroad, and you need the insurance to be active fast. International bank transfer can take several days to process, and we don’t want you to remain uncovered due to payment delays.
If you failed to pay the insurance premium after several reminder invoices, the insurance will be cancelled. If you experience trouble with paying for your insurance, it’s advise to inform us about this. We will find a solution to make sure that your insurance does not have to be cancelled.
It is possible to pay the insurance via electronic invoice (e-invoice) by using the payment link attached in the invoice to pay via credit card or by using the bank details in the invoice and transfer the amount manually via bank transfer. Another possibility is to pay via direct debit (only possible with a SEPA IBAN account).
Payment methods
- E-invoiceWith this option you can pay via either credit card (MasterCard/VISA) or bank transfer. You will receive a digital invoice in your e-mail with a payment button via which you can complete the payment.
- Direct debitWe also offer direct debit. This way the payment for your insurance is automatically deducted from your account. Please note that to use this option, you need to have a bank account (IBAN) within the Single European Payment Area (SEPA).
Insurance cancellation
The insurance can be cancelled on a day-to-day basis via your online account. In case of advance payment, you will receive a refund of any excess premium paid for your insurance. When cancelling your insurance, you will be asked to provide the reason for the cancellation, and your bank account number where an eventual refund can be sent to. Any deficiencies corresponding to exchange rate differences and international bank transfers are for your own cost. The refund process can take up to two weeks to a SEPA IBAN bank account and up to three weeks to a non-SEPA international bank account.
